Published Books

If your Sim finishes writing a novel, they'll receive a free copy of the book in the mail, along with the royalty checks. If you're lucky, you might see your book at the library or the bookstore. I think that it's really cool, because then you could write a series of sci-fi novels or a fiction trilogy. Then, when your person dies, their books remind others of their past deeds.

The Fat Guy

My friend Aaron came over today, and he created a new Sim called Really Fat. As you can guess, he's very fat. He also has green hair, and yellow bushy eyebrows. Talk about odd. Well, while Aaron was building Fat's house, I made him buy a pool, and two workout systems. Let's take a look, shall we?

And afterward, Fat likes to enjoy a entire cartoon of ice cream! Ah, stay tuned for some more Really Fat!

A Decorated Home

If you happen have some extra Simoleons, or your Sims wants to buy something, go shopping for plants and paintings. They'll both improve the environment in the given room, which could result in various moodlets. There are three moodlets, which last as long as you are in the room. First, there's the simple Decorated Moodlet, worth about 10 mood points. Then, there's Nicely Decorated worth 25 mood points. And then, you have a very powerful moodlet from a very very nicely decorated home. Beautifully Decorated worth a nice 40 points. A easy way to decorate your home without spending much money, is collecting stuff. Maybe cut some gems, or catch some butterflies then put them in your house for some Environment boosts.

The Mine

The other day, Remeb Paolo decided to explore Sunset Valley on a search for collectibles. I discovered a great place to find gems and metals called The Mine. Remeb found 4 silver, 5 iron, and 1 palladium. I found out thay you should never send the iron away to get smelted, just sell it right away because it costs more to get it smelted then it would sell for after. Here's a picture of The Mine. You can't really see the metals but you can see some gems glinting in the sunlight.

My New Sim: Remeb Paolo

I have recently made a new Sim named Remeb Paolo. The Remeb part comes from the name Rembrandt, who was a very famous painter. I chose to name him after a famous painter because I decided to make Remeb a stay-at-home painter, along with being a very skilled guitarist. To give Remeb a head start on his artistic skills, I gave him the Artistic trait and the Perfectionnist trait. The Artistic trait would help him gain the Painting skill faster, plus it would help him write and play guitar faster. The Perfectionist will also help Remeb paint higher quality painting, at the cost that they would take longer. But hey, quality not quantity, right? To help with his guitar skills, I gave Remeb the Virtuoso trait, which will help everything that he'll do that has to do with Guitar playing, such as bigger tips, starting with a guitar book, and learning the guitar skill faster than others. I also gave Remeb the Natural Cook trait so he could cook some good ol' homemade meal for himself. Then, I threw in the Lucky trait for, well, good luck! Later I'll post a picture of Remeb playing Guitar or painting, so stay tuned!

Pyromaniac Trait

There is a hidden trait in Sims 3, that you can only get if you marry a firefighter and have a baby with them. This trait is called Pyromaniac. Whoever has this trait will occasionally set things on fire, ruining them, but giving the Pyromaniac a mood boost. Pyromaniacs can also turn normal fruit into Flame Fruit, which they get more mood boosts from eating.

DeathFish

Whether you want to make Ambrosia or you want to make a some money, you need to know how to catch a DeathFish. DeathFish are the most valuable fish and also the hardest fish to catch, considering you need a level 10 Fishing skill level. You can only catch a DeathFish at the Graveyard and between the times of 12:00 A.M and 5:00 A.M. Their preferred bait is the AngelFish which you can only catch at level 8 and whose favorite bait is AlleyCatFish. Remember, the DeathFish is the hardest fish to catch so don't give up easily. Happy fishing!

Ambrosia: The food of the living dead

Once you reach the highest skill level for Cooking, you automatically learn the recipe Ambrosia. But, it still is very hard to make. First off you'll need a Death Fish and some Angel Food Cake. If you make it right, it has two uses. First, if you feed it to a living Sim, they'll live longer in that age. For example, if I had a Sims who was a Young Adult with 5 days until they become a Adult and I fed him some Ambrosia, he would have 10 days until he becomes a Adult. This can come in handy if your Sim in in School and you need to pull up their grades so you can choose their trait. Secondly, if you feed Ambrosia to a Ghost, there is a chance they will come back to life. So, work on your cooking!

Fishing Boxes

Sometimes when you are fishing, you might fish up a Box instead of a fish. Don't be angry, boxes can actually be more helpful then fish's. There are a number of things you can get in a Box, one of which is a Mysterious Mr. Gnome. So far I have found A Bubble Bath, A MoodLite Candle, and even two Death Flowers. Who knows what else you might fish up!

How to Chose your baby's gender

In Sims 3 it is very easy to affect what gender you're baby will be. If you want the baby to be a Boy, have your Pregnant Sim eat three apples. If you want a girl, have the pregnant Sim eat three watermelons.

Mysterious Mr. Gnomes

Along with the other Collectibles in Sunset Valley, there is a very rare and special one-Mysterious Mr. Gnomes! These little guys look identical to the lawn gnomes you can buy, but they have a small star on their forehead. When you put one on your lot you get a environmental boost but Mysterious Mr. Gnomes aren't all good. At night, the Gnomes will come alive and move around, sometimes just to reposition themselves, but sometimes they'll turn on the T.V or the radio, ruining your Sims good nights sleep. I only know of two ways of how to catch a Mysterious Mr. Gnome, but there might be more ways out there. First, if you search the Catacombs, you might come up with a Mysterious Mr. Gnome. And second, if you fish up a Box (more on Boxes later), there is a small chance it will contain a Gnome!

Benefits of Being Brave

The Brave Trait may not seem very helpful at first, but it can actually make your Sims much more wealthy. If a thief comes to your house and takes something while you're there, your Sim might be able to stop them, depending on how high your Athletic Skill is, since your Sim fights them. This can come in handy since you might not be able to afford the Thief Alarm or maybe the Robber will be the Police at a fight. This can happen, I would know because a thief stole my bookshelf and the Police failed to capture the robber.
Also, your Brave Sim won't run away from Ghosts. On the contrary, they will actually be happy to see a ghost, improving their mood. You can also Search the Catacombs without worrying about getting the Horrified Moodlet. When you search the Catacombs, you might find some very valuable stuff such as meteors, gems, and metals. You might also find a Magic Mr. Gnome. Wait, what are Magic Mr. Gnomes? Stick around and I'll tell you in a later post.

How to Start a Ghost Family

Death is not always the end of your Sim. When a Sim dies you might get a call from the Science Facility, saying they can reverse death! Take your dead Sims remains to the Science Facility and click Restore Ghost. You get to continue playing your character! Unfortunately, your Sim is just a Ghost of their former self (pun intended). You can basically do anything with this Ghost Sim that you can do with a living Sim. You can even start a family of Ghosts. Just romance enough with another Sim and Try For A Baby which might be a success. There is a chance that the baby will be a Ghost, which can eventually lead to a household of Ghosts!

Different Types of Ghosts

Yes, there are different types of ghosts in this game. Here is a list of how you get a certain type of ghost.

White Ghost: If a Sims dies of old age.
Red Ghost: If your Sims burns to death.
Blue: If your Sims drowns in a pool.
Yellow: If your Sims get electrocuted.
Purple: If your Sim dies from Starvation.

My Opinion on Traits

Choosing your Sim's traits is a very important task, since these can change your entire playing style. Now, my Sim (Jack Larkson) has the Bookworm, Green Thumb, Computer Whiz, Handy, Angler, and Flirty traits. I chose the Green Thumb, Handy and Angler traits because I wanted Jack to work in the Science Career path. I chose the Computer Whiz because it lets my Sim hack on the computer at night, providing some extra cash. Plus, Computer Whiz's fill the Fun Meter faster when playing Computer Games. Finally, the I wanted to continue the Larkson family so I gave Jack the Flirty Trait to help him find his partner. I decided not to use any bad traits, such as Hates Being Outdoors, because I wanted my first Sim to be easier. I recommend getting the BookWorm trait because it can help you with almost anything. Having the Bookwork trait boosts how fast you read book (such as skill books) and it speeds up the writing process which can also be a alternate source of income. Think about how some traits can compliment each other. For example, if you get the Angler Trait (which improves your Sims fishing) and the Loves the Outdoors Trait, you get a +20 Moodlet when you're fishing outside. Also, its a bad idea to mix two things that don't mix well, such as Hates the Outdoors and Green Thumb because then you get a negative Moodlet when you're Gardening. So remember, choose carefully.

Collectibles

Around the town of Sunset Valley, you might find some thing laying around on the ground or flying above it in one spot. These are called Collectibles. You can collect Butterflies, Beetles, Meteorites, Gems, Seeds which you can grow (if your high enough level), and precious metals, all of which you can sell. You can send Gems, Metals and Meteorites to get cut, analyzed, or processed to make them worth more. But beware! Sometimes when you analyze them, they go down in value. Beetles and Butterflies may only be sold at the Science Facility, whereas you can sell the rest through your inventory.

A great place to look for collectibles is SimHenge, which is located to the North of the town. Here is a picture of SimHenge.

Ok, so first I'm going to list all of the cheats I know. Now, some don't work but I know some of the one's that don't work so I'll mark them with a * but I don't know all of them.
